Prof Suveer Singh is a consultant in Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine at the Royal Brompton and Chelsea & Westminster NHS Foundation Trusts, London, and Professor of Practice at Imperial College London. He has over 25 years’ experience in respiratory disease, sleep medicine, cardiac and burns intensive care, and he led the ECMO follow-up clinic at Royal Brompton during the COVID-19 pandemic.
His research interests include early diagnostic markers for ventilator-associated pneumonia, burns inhalation injury, interventional bronchoscopy, microcirculatory disorders, antibiotic stewardship and behavioural science in prescribing. He has authored more than 150 peer-reviewed publications and serves as editor of the Oxford Textbook of Respiratory Critical Care.
Along with the TasteICU group, Prof Singh is developing a novel food agent suitable for those who are nil by mouth. With the aim to improve patient experience, particularly in critical care, and provide access to an often forgotten sensory pleasure.
As a teacher and mentor he has been awarded for his contributions to medical education, leads teaching in critical care medicine, supervises PhD/MD/BSc students, and serves on editorial boards and examines for national and international bodies.
